Our graduate program provides a healthy balance of theory and history, as well as numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations. Faculty and students research in related fields such as Art History, Comparative Literature, European Studies, Film and Media Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Religious Studies, and the Women and Gender Studies Program.
After receiving pedagogical instruction, graduate students teach in our undergraduate German program, as teaching is an essential part of professional training. Students have the opportunity to spend a year abroad, and qualified students may have the opportunity to teach in related departments.
Graduate students also plan undergraduate events, organize a Graduate Student Symposium, and serve on all significant departmental committees.
To meet with an advisor, please contact Lutz Koepnick. For questions regarding the graduate application process, or to request a brochure, please contact Kathryn Schallert.
