American Literary Translators Organization
"...A broad-based organization dedicated to the promotion of literary translation through services to literary translators, forums on the theory and practice of translation, collaboration with the international literary community, and advocacy on behalf of the literary translator."
"All the key players meet annually in October at the Frankfurt Book Fair: authors and publishers, book dealers and librarians, art dealers and illustrators, agents and journalists, reporters and readers. As the organizer of the leading international trade convention in the field of books and literature, the Frankfurt Book Fair is at the same time connected to similar events taking place in other parts of the world. In 2007, two of the highlights are, for example, the focus on 'German-Language Literature' at BookWorld in Prague, jointly presented by Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as Germany’s guest country appearance in Beijing, at Asia’s most important book fair, which this year has placed the fields of German literature and culture at the center of the proceedings."
