"...A broad-based organization dedicated to the promotion of literary translation through services to literary translators, forums on the theory and practice of translation, collaboration with the international literary community, and advocacy on behalf of the literary translator."
"All the key players meet annually in October at the Frankfurt Book Fair: authors and publishers, book dealers and librarians, art dealers and illustrators, agents and journalists, reporters and readers. As the organizer of the leading international trade convention in the field of books and literature, the Frankfurt Book Fair is at the same time connected to similar events taking place in other parts of the world. In 2007, two of the highlights are, for example, the focus on 'German-Language Literature' at BookWorld in Prague, jointly presented by Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as Germany’s guest country appearance in Beijing, at Asia’s most important book fair, which this year has placed the fields of German literature and culture at the center of the proceedings."
"In addition to a current calendar of cultural events (Kulturkalender), organized by state (Land), the site’s Book Market Archive (Büchermarkt-Archiv) offers over 3,000 book reviews for reading and research. Continually updated information about news programming dealing with books, authors, culture and politics, including current reporting on new literary works, criticism, and publications in German can be found at http://www.dradio.de/portale/literatur/."
"DIMENSION2 is a unique literature magazine that presents contemporary German-langauge literature in bilingual format to the English-speaking public. In three issues per year, DIMENSION2 brings its readers a collection of prose and lyric works presented in their original German and in English translation. In addition, each issue of DIMENSION2 includes a selection of visual art produced by a professional German-speaking artist."
"The German Book Office New York, Inc. (GBO) serves as bridge between the German and American publishing industries."
"The German literature portal Current Writing in German offers a one-of-a-kind overview of activities and initiatives that promote and support German literature in the United States. Here you will find links to high caliber literary events nationwide, to reviews of new publications on the German book market and to programs advancing translation. Also represented are American institutions important in the advocacy of German literature, particularly those that offer literary prize, scholarship and writer-in-residency opportunities in the US."
