Overview

Undergraduate Major/Minor in German Studies

In addition to its language program, the German Studies major/minor offers courses which examine important aspects of European culture, art, philosophy, literature, media, and criticism from the Middle Ages to the present. Students also have the opportunity to learn Business German and to study the politics, economics, and cultures of contemporary German-speaking countries. For more information, see our Degree Requirements and Why Study German? pages. Undergraduates may also be interested in our FOCUS program for freshmen or BLOC opportunities. To meet with an advisor, please contact Matt Erlin or Empress Sanders. Program brochures are available in the Department Lounge.

German Language Study Through University College

Non-traditional students interested in German or Swedish language study have the opportunity to take our language courses through University College and the Summer School. To speak to an advisor regarding these programs, please contact University College or Stephan Schindler.
