Saved by Deportation - In 1940, a year before the Nazis started deporting Jews to death camps, Joseph Stalin ordered the deportation of approximately 200,000 Polish Jews from Russian-occupied Eastern Poland to forced labor settlements in the Soviet interior. As cruel as Stalin's deportations were, in the end they largely saved Polish Jewish lives, for the deportees constituted the overwhelming majority of Polish Jews who escaped the Nazi Holocaust. Saved by Deportation tells this historical irony for the first time in mainstream media.

Final Solution - Final Solution is a study of the politics of hate. Set in Gujarat during the period Feb/March 2002 - July 2003, the film graphically documents the changing face of right-wing politics in India through a study of the 2002 genocide of Moslems in Gujarat. It specifically examines political tendencies reminiscient of the Nazi Germany of early/mid-1930s. Final Solution is anti-hate/ violence as “those who forget history are condemned to relive it”.

Sentenced to Marriage - Nominated for a Silver Wolf at IDFA, this shocking documentary exposes the Kafkaesque process of divorce for women in Israel where secular law does not exist, and divorce is dealt with according to archaic and fundamentalist orthodox Jewish law. Filmmaker Anat Zuria, maker of the award-winning Purity, gained rare access to the rabbinical courts to follow two women caught in the demoralizing legal labyrinth. Though husbands can live with other women and even withhold child support, wives are forbidden contact with other men. In some cases, these very modern, independent and well-educated women are forced to buy a divorce from their husbands for huge sums. As a result, thousands of Jewish women have lived in limbo indefinitely, both in Israel and in other communities around the world.

America as a Spiritual Democracy: Steven Rockefeller - The path Steven Rockefeller has taken on his intellectual and spiritual journey would very likely surprise his great-grandfather, the tycoon John D. Rockefeller, Sr. A convert to Buddhism, Steven Rockefeller has been teaching Religion at Middlebury College in Vermont for almost 20 years. Centering on what he calls "the democratic reconstruction of religion," Rockefeller has steeped himself in the writings of Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and John Dewey. In this program with Bill Moyers, Steven Rockefeller discusses his idea that the time has come to reconsider America as a "spiritual democracy." "The greatest single moral failing of many religious traditions," says Rockefeller, "is their inability to teach their followers to respect people of a different tradition the same way they respect people of their own tradition."

Surviving Columbus: The Story of the Pueblo People - This is an excellent documentary about the history of the Acoma / Hopi / Pueblo Indians in what today is New Mexico. It takes us back to the time when the Spansh, traveling north from Mexico, invaded Acoma territory, the soldiers forcing the Indians to work for them and grow food for them, sometimes at the expense of the starvation of the Indians themselves. The missionaries worked on converting the Indians to Catholicism, yet many risked their lives to practice their own religion secretly.

Using live footage and interviews, the film captures the true stories of many people and seeks to answer the most common questions: how does the Chinese government deal with Chinese Christians and vice-versa?
