Independent Study

A listing of courses currently offered by Jewish, Islamic and Near Eastern Studies appears online at courses.wustl.edu/WUCRSL.asp. Apart from the courses listed, students whose work leads into areas too specialized for a regular course offering may be able to pursue their studies through enrollment in tutorial or independent study courses. A student or small group of students wishing to undertake directed independent study on a topic not covered by a formal course may request an appropriate faculty member to direct the study. Credit for JNE 500, Independent Study, must be approved by the Director of the Program (Professor Jacobs ). Independent Study is ordinarily intended for seniors who have already done substantial course work in JINES. Our faculty members are often willing to direct independent study work, but, due to their multiple responsibilities, it may not be possible to accommodate all students in a given term.
