Web Resources for TAs

Summer WebWorkshops
On-campus interdepartmental training , sponsored by the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and taught by Liberman Graduate Fellows under supervision of ASCC Teaching Lab, to enhance the preparation of graduate students as future faculty and professionals working in an increasingly technology-intensive world. Three sessions of this 5-day workshop are offered each summer.

Online Materials for Developing Web Course Materials

Graduate Online Lectures Project
Opportunities for graduate students to learn to use prototype technology to showcase their own dissertation research or other professional projects online for a broader community of learners. 

GradLab for Teaching & Technology
A well-equipped collaborative graduate student computer lab setting in which TAs can 1) produce Web-based materials for use in WU courses, 2) develop peer training sessions to further professional development, and 3) pilot more advanced teaching technology projects. 

GradLab Student Advisory Board
Graduate Students interested in serving on the Advisory Board for the development of Eads 3 should contact current Board members or Dr. Gavin Foster in the Graduate School. 

Liberman Graduate Fellowships
Opportunities for graduate students with experience in teaching with technology to develop and teach Summer WebWorkshops for other graduate students are available. A fellowship is also available during the academic year to facilitate advanced projects such as the Graduate Online Lectures. Contact Associate Dean Elaine Berland in the Graduate School. 

WU Teaching Center
The Teaching Center home page provides a number of teaching resources on the Teaching Assistant web page. These resources include handouts on various teaching topics, as well as handouts on writing a teaching philosophy statement and preparing a teaching portfolio. In addition, the WU statement of best practices and expectations for classroom interaction is given. For the technology inclined, there is a link to the ITeach web page, which is a collection of resources around the topic "teaching with technology." Last, a description of the Teaching Citation Award for graduate students is given.
