TA Handbook Part III: Web-Only
Using Technology To Enhance
Teaching
"Technology-Enhanced Teaching Tips" is a Web supplement to the Teaching
Assistant Handbook, designed to both evoke and answer questions related
to teaching with technology. Like the on-line "TA
Teaching Tips," this site is a collection of insights and resources
that will help you conceptualize, plan, and manage the various technologies
that are becoming increasingly useful in the classroom. Washington University
offers a wide variety of technologies that can enhance your course, as
well as the support needed to use these tools. Use the following
questions and issues both as a directory for available resources as well
as a checklist for your own pedagogical planning:
-
How can technology help me achieve the pedagogical goals of the course
I am teaching?
-
What additional pedagogical and technical factors are important in managing
a technology-enhanced course?
-
What on-line resources are available to help me address my course goals
and my students' learning needs?
-
How do I document my commitment to these new pedagogical innovations?
-
What are some possible lessons and exercises that might help me achieve
my pedagogical goals?
In addition to providing this on-line resource, the Graduate School of
Arts and Sciences offered a series of Summer
2002 Web Workshops designed to help graduate students use the Web as
a teaching tool. Designed with an independent-study aspect in mind,
workshop materials are available on-line for use as self-directed tutorial.
For a more detailed treatment of the following issues, we invite you to
take advantage of its many resources, such as step-by-step instructions
for creating a course site, pedagogical and management tips, and numerous
related Web links. |
