Distinguished Leadership Award

Faculty involvement is key to achieving the broader goals of Arts & Sciences and the University. The Arts & Sciences Distinguished Leadership Award recognizes faculty who dedicate their time, energy and expertise to the advancement of Arts & Sciences and the University, above and beyond their commitment to research and teaching.


Eligibility
Tenured faculty members are eligible to receive this award.

Award Criteria
Examples of leadership activities encouraged by Arts & Sciences include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, collaborating with other departments and schools, speaking to alumni groups, working on special projects, and mentoring students and/or faculty.

Nominations/Deadline
Nominations may be submitted by any faculty member of Arts & Sciences. Nomination letters should describe, in 500 words or less, the person’s commitment, contribution, influence, and impact on the department/discipline, Arts & Sciences, and/or the University, citing specific examples. Submit nominations to the Dean’s office via mail or email by Friday, March 27, 2009.

Award Selection
The Dean of Arts & Sciences will assemble a group of senior faculty to review the nominations and present recommendations. There will be two recipients of the award, given at the Arts & Sciences Faculty Reception at the beginning of the fall semester.
