Students may pursue up to six hours of internship credit working in the arts community. These internship credits are cr/ncr and may not be counted toward the major.
There are also opportunities to receive both paid and unpaid internships. The Washington University Gallery of Art and the Saint Louis Art Museum offer positions in their curatorial, registrarial, and education departments. These jobs often revolve around a special exhibition, but can also involve working with an institution's permanent collection. Recently, students have interned at Sotheby's Auction House, the Saint Louis Toy Museum, and the Cloisters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Annelise Madsen, another major who studied abroad in Toulouse, had the opportunity to organize an art exhibition at the university's American student center in conjunction with a major exhibition at Le Musée des Augustins.
