Our research investigates how infants and young children reason and learn about the world around them. All of our studies are designed to be fun and interesting to children. If you have a child between 12 months and 4 years of age and are interested in coming to visit our lab and take part in a study, please visit our sign up page. If you'd like to get an idea of what it's like to come in to participate, you can learn more by visiting the lab.
After parking in our reserved parking space in front of the Psychology building on Forsyth Avenue, you'll be greeted by a researcher who will escort you up to our lab on the 4th floor. Here you will enter the playroom with where your child will have time to warm up and get comfortable with the researcher who will be running the study, and we'll explain more about the study to you. When your child is ready to begin the study, you will both move to a different room where your child will engage in a fun activity while you observe. For example, they might be presented with a variety of toys and asked to choose some to play with, or they might be given a novel toy to play with and we see what they learn and remember about it. Great effort goes into making our studies fun for children, but we're happy to stop or take a break at any time upon request. After the study is finished, you will return to the playroom where your child will receive a small gift, and if you like, we will discuss the study details with you.
