Mary Ann Dzuback
Associate Professor of Education & History

Professor Dzuback received her Ph.D. in history and education from Columbia University in 1987. She has been Vice-President of Division F of AERA (1995-97), has served on the board of the History of Education Society (1993-96; 2000-2003), was Vice-President (2000-01) and President (2001-02) of the History of Education Society, and served as associate editor of the History of Education Quarterly  (1993-99). She is network representative of the Social Science History Association.

She currently is Director of Women and Gender Studies and teaches courses in the social history of schooling and school policy; the history of education, broadly defined; intellectual history of feminism; women in the history of education; history of higher education; and gender and education. She is a founding member and past President and board member of the Washington University Association of Women Faculty.  She is co-chair of the Educational Studies Program.

Her current work uses gender analysis to explore women academic social science scholars in the period between 1890 and 1940, and their influence on college and university institutional cultures, on local and national social policy making, and on the development of knowledge in the social science disciplines.
