INTERDISCIPLINARY CONNECTIONS
At many universities, education is housed in a separate professional college. At Washington University, we are a department within the College of Arts and Sciences--the college at the core of the university's mission, the traditional liberal arts education. This location provides many advantages. Undergraduates often double-major in education and another field, in part to explore the connections between them. Doctoral students often have professors from other departments on their advisory committees. Faculty researchers collaborate with scientists across the university who are committed to improving education, and most of them have formal affiliations with other departments.
