LETTER TO PROSPECTIVE DOCTORAL STUDENTS

In choosing a graduate program, you are making one of the most important decisions of your professional life. In contrast to the usual expectations of undergraduate education, you will now be expected to join an active community of professional researchers. An important part of reaching this goal is finding faculty members who share your research interests and who can help you design and conduct original research that you find stimulating and rewarding.

To assist you in this task, we have put together a summary description of the research interests of our faculty. As you can see, there are several options available for pursuing a Ph.D. program in Education at Washington University. In addition to working with outstanding faculty in the Department, we offer possibilities for collaborating with faculty from a variety of other departments and programs.

After reading this description of our Ph.D. program, please feel welcome to contact any of us who share your interests. If you are excited about the research taking place at Washington University, we urge you to apply and, if possible, to visit our campus and meet with us. Please contact us at (314) 935-6791 with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

William Tate
Chair and Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor in
Arts & Sciences
