Listening/Speaking Course Levels and Topics
English Language Programs
Washington University
in St. Louis
Most of the English Language Programs’ listening/speaking courses presume
an advanced level of fluency in English and vary not in terms of proficiency
level, but rather in terms of their focus on specialized skills (e.g., pronunciation,
oral presentations) or topics (e.g., movies, current events). Before enrolling
in any of the specialized courses shown in the bottom row below, a student
must demonstrate the appropriate level of fluency OR must complete as many
courses
as necessary from the top two rows to bring his/her fluency to the appropriate
level. Contact the ELP staff at 935-5910 if you have questions about choosing
an appropriate course.
