Ridgley Hall, Danforth Campus

Should you wish to begin your visit with a virtual tour, please see the Washington University website, which offers an architectural and historical tour of Danforth Campus.
Prospective graduate students may arrange visits to the department through Kathryn Schallert, Administrative Assistant. Generally, if visits are arranged in advance, students may sit in on classes, meet with faculty and students, and arrange a tour of campus. Prospective graduate students who have already applied are also encouraged to attend our Prospective Graduate Students' Weekend in early Spring. (For more information, please contact Kathryn Schallert.) Students who will be staying over a Wednesday are encouraged to attend our weekly Kaffeestunde.
Prospective undergraduate students may arrange a visit to the department through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Admissions office will arrange for you to meet with a member of our faculty, visit one of our classes, and help you further customize your visit.
Parents wishing to visit at the beginning of the semester are encouraged to attend our Orientation Open House for new and returning students in August and/or our Parents' Open House in October, which is held on the Friday of Parents' Weekend. At the end of the year, parents are encouraged to attend our Commencement Luncheon (and Honors Luncheon, if their child is receiving honors). Our weekly Kaffeestunde is also a good opportunity for parents to meet members of the department. For all other visits, please contact Kathryn Schallert.
Missouri and Illinois highschool teachers wishing to learn more about the department are encouraged to attend our annual German Day with their students in March/April. Local teachers are also encouraged to visit our weekly Kaffeestunde, attend our lectures/readings and biennial symposium, and bring their students to our German Film Night or Swedish Film Night. Please contact Amanda Barton for additional information specifically for high school teachers.
