I'm a philosopher at Washington University in St Louis. I mainly work on the philosophy of language and logic, and epistemology. I wrote this book on the analytic/synthetic distinction, and edited this one with Delia Graff Fara.
I've also published on topics like barriers to implication and logical pluralism. And I do a lot of martial arts, including teaching a club at Wash U.
I'm originally from the UK and was an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. I did my Ph.D. at Princeton (2004). I have spent many fine (northern) summers as a visiting scholar at Melbourne University. I was Killam Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta in 2005, a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley in the spring of 09, and a visiting fellow at Tilburg Center For Logic and Philosophy of Science (TiLPS) in the Netherlands in the fall of 2009.
