I thought the ILP retreat was a time to step away from campus and discuss current social issues, like diversity and acceptance, in a more uninhibited and practical manner than is possible in the classroom. We were able to push the limits of our comfort zone in an environment that allowed us to feel safe and learned leadership skills that we could apply to our various activities back at WashU. More importantly though, it gave me a chance to bond with 28 other students in ILP, who ended up being some of the first close friends I made at WashU and some of the most genuine people I met there.
