WU Summer Chinese Language Program at Fudan University, Shanghai

Eligibility
Two or more semesters of college Mandarin Chinese; 3.0 minimum GPA with a B- or above in all Chinese language courses.

WU Credits
Students earn 10 credits.

Location
Shanghai, China

Shanghai is the largest city in China in terms of population and one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world, with over 20 million people in its extended metropolitan area.

Courses will be based at Fudan University, one of the oldest, most prestigious and most selective universities in China.

Housing
Students will live in dorms, among both American and Chinese students.

Student Life
This program is seven weeks of full immersion in the Chinese language with small group intensive instruction. There are three different language levels offered: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year.

Students pledge to only speak Chinese, especially in social situations. Each student will be paired with a Chinese college student as a Language Partner. There will also be a week of domestic travel in China, along with weekend trips and activities, the cost of which is covered in the tuition.

On-Site Support
Washington University on-site faculty will participate in instruction and oversight of the program.

Application Process
WU students must submit a completed WU Summer Chinese Language Program Application. Non-WU students must submit a completed Non-WU Student Summer Chinese Language Program Application.

WU Program Price
The WU program price includes WU tuition plus WU student health insurance and any housing, food or other costs paid by WU on the student's behalf. Below are projected program pricing and estimated personal expenses for this program.
