Arabic studies, Islamic studies, Middle Eastern studies, and other topics. AUC offers two programs: intensive Arabic or study abroad. The intensive Arabic program has limited capacity and does not allow enrollment in other courses. The study abroad program offers Arabic plus a variety of courses taught in English.

Eligibility
Two semesters of Arabic prior to arrival at AUC are required for the semester or academic year program.
For the summer program, prior Arabic is encouraged but not required. Enrollment in Arabic at the appropriate level is required while attending AUC.
Priority for admission to the Arabic Language Institute goes to professionals and graduate students before undergraduate students and in recent semesters Washington University undergraduate students have been affected in recent semesters. 15-16 units per semester; 3-7 for summer.

Housing
Student rooms in AUC housing are doubles, furnished with two beds, desks, chairs and wardrobes. Pillows, blankets, sheets, pillow cases and towels are provided. Linens are changed and laundered free of charge twice weekly. Rooms are cleaned weekly by the housekeeping service. Personal laundry service is available at a per item charge, and there are limited self-operated washing machines and dryers. Each room has one telephone from which local calls may be made and on which international calls may be received, as well as a high speed Internet connection. Shared bathrooms with showers are located on each floor. Study areas, cafeterias, and computer rooms are also in residences.
Student Life
On campus, Resident Assistants organize popular social events like Nile dinner cruises, desert horseback riding evenings and theme parties. Students demonstrate unique aspects of their cultures and highlight the multicultural nature of the residence community. Off campus, students can visit The Museum which is next to the university. If a student would like to travel, they can visit Giza and Sakkara which are about 30 to 45 minutes away. Luxor and Aswan are an hour away by plane.

Application Process
The application process differs based on the term in which you wish to study abroad and your department's approval of this program.
Semester/AY Applications - If this program is approved by your department you must submit a completed WU Semester/AY Study Abroad Application with program-specific forms to the Overseas Programs office in McMillan 138. If this program is not approved by your department, then you must meet with Jennifer White Reding before proceeding with your application.
Summer Applications - You must submit a completed WU Summer Study Abroad Application with program-specific forms to the Overseas Programs office in McMillan 138. If you wish to receive major or minor credit, please ensure that this program is approved by your department and you complete the Study Plan with your Study Abroad Advisor.
