Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE)
Areas of Study
Chemistry. RISE gives students in the field of chemistry the chance to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on research projects.

Eligibility
Minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must have completed at least 2 years of college.

Location
Universities throughout Germany
Located in the heart of Europe, Germany is a country whose landscape ranges from lively big cities to picturesque small towns. The internship placements are located at many different universities throughout Germany. You apply directly to the internships.
Housing
Your host will help you find reasonably-priced housing for the duration of the internship, which can be anything from a room in a student dormitory to a shared apartment.
Student Life
Student life varies by location. There is a 3 day excursion where all interns will meet in a central location and have an opportunity to learn from each others’ experiences while exploring a historic city and a modern German multinational corporation.
On-Site Support
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) matches the research assistants with doctoral students. The doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors.
Application Process
You must submit a completed WU Summer Study Abroad Application with program-specific forms to the Overseas Programs office in McMillan 138. If you wish to receive major or minor credit, please ensure that this program is approved by your department and you complete the Study Plan with your Study Abroad Advisor.
