Eligibility
3.0 and must have completed at least French 201 or the equivalent.
WU Credits
6 units of WU academic credit
3 units for 300-level French course
3 units for AFAS 369 Senegal: History, Politics, and Culture
Research project
Location
Dakar, Senegal
Dakar offers the unique window to explore many themes in African studies such as the slave trade; French colonialism and its policies; important literary and cultural movements, such as negritude; the relationship between religion and contemporary politics; urban history; and public health.
Housing
Students will be housed in dormitories (two students to one room) on Suffolk University’s Dakar Campus. There is a computer room with internet access. The dormitories are located in Fenetre Mermoz on the Rue de Oukam, which is central to downtown and Almadies and within walking distance to the university and the beach.
Student Life
There will be several excursions throughout Senegal as part of the program.
On-Site Support
Program leaders are WU faculty members. There will be Suffolk University Residential Staff living in the dormitories with students.

You must submit a completed WU Summer in Senegal Application.
WU Program Price
The WU program price includes WU tuition plus WU student health insurance and any housing, food, airfare or other costs paid by WU on the student's behalf. Below are projected program pricing and estimated personal expenses for this program.
