South Africa: Ecology and Conservation

This program is appropriate for students majoring in Biology or Environmental Studies.

Eligibility
Minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must have completed two semesters of college level biology, ecology, or other related sciences.
WU Credits
15-16 credits for 4 required OTS courses:
South African Ecosystems and Diversity
Field Research in Savanna Ecology
Conservation and Management of Protected Areas in South Africa
History and Culture of South Africa
Location
Live and study in Kruger National
Park, one of the world’s premier
national parks. Kruger is part of
the Great Limpopo Transfrontier
Park, spanning the borders of
South Africa, Mozambique and
Zimbabwe. The Great Limpopo is
the largest and most ambitious effort
in Africa to combine conservation,
environmental protection, tourism
and economic development. The program also visits Cape Town, Nylsvley Reserve and the University of the Witwatersrand’s rural research facility.
Application Process
The application process differs based on your department's approval of this program.
If this program is approved by your department you must submit a completed WU Semester/AY Study Abroad Application with program-specific forms to the Overseas Programs office in McMillan 138. If this program is not approved by your department, then you must meet with Jennifer White Reding before proceeding with your application.
