Starting the WU Credit Award Process
While you are still abroad, you will receive an email message explaining the evaluation process and asking you to reply with a summary of your course work from abroad and your preferences for how the courses will appear on your WU record. Please reply promptly; further processing will not occur until you respond!
This email reminds you to save important academic work, including syllabi, copies of papers you wrote, etc. Many evaluators may want to review this work, along with your program transcript, before awarding you credit, especially within a major or a minor.
Remember also that you filled out a Plan of Study that was approved by your departmental Study Abroad Advisor(s) as part of your application. This becomes a part of the file used to evaluate your credit. If you end up enrolling in significantly different courses, you should consult your departmental SAA to ensure that major/minor credit can be awarded for the new courses. You should also send an update to your Plan of Study to Overseas Programs by mail, fax or e-mail.
You should ensure that your program transcript will be sent directly to International and Area Studies (IAS) when you complete the program. It should not be sent to the "WU Registrar" (also known as Student Records).
Once IAS has your reply to the email message and your program transcript, we will complete the credit award process.
