Brett Kessler

Assistant Professor of Psychology
Ph. D. Stanford

Psychology Bldg., Rm. 235A / 935-8839

Kessler's research concentrates on computational, statistical, and experimental approaches to the study of language. He is particularly interested in how people apply their implicit linguistic knowledge to complex tasks that are not entirely rule governed, such as reading and spelling in inconsistent writing systems such as that of English. He also studies the development of languages and dialects to investigate the historical and psychological factors that can lead to similarities between languages.
