Research Interests:
Professor Larsen conducts research on emotion, primarily in terms of differences between people. Topics studied include mood variability, jealousy, attraction, depression, and strategies for the self-management of self-esteem and emotion. Methods of investigation have included psychophysiological techniques and experience sampling methods in addition to standard research methods. Other interests in circadian, and longer, rhythms in mood and social behavior have lead to a related interest in applied time-series statistics and the study of change over time.
